Cheese on Toast with Lancashire Sauce
- Ingredients (Serves 1–2)
2 slices of thick-cut bread (sourdough, bloomer, or crusty white work well)
100g mature cheddar cheese, grated (Lancashire cheese also works beautifully) - 1 slied tomato 1/2 sliced red onion
1–2 tsp Lancashire Sauce, to taste
A pinch of black pepper
Instructions
Toast the bread
Lightly toast both sides of the bread under a grill (or in a toaster if you’re in a hurry).
Prep the cheese topping
Grate the cheese, slice tomatoes and onions.
Top and grill
Lightly butter the toast, place the tomatoes and onions on the toast, sprinkle the grated cheese evenly onto the tomato and onions, add a few shakes of Lancashire Sauce and place under a hot grill until bubbling and golden (about 2–3 minutes).
Serve
Remove from the grill, let it cool for a minute of two! (we don’t want ya’ burning yer gob off!) and enjoy! - You can drizzle a little extra Lancashire Sauce over the top for an tangy finish.
Serving Suggestions
Pair with baked beans or a poached egg for a more filling meal.
